Digital Chat Section, a very famous and reliable Chinese leaker, has recently reported that Xiaomi might soon join Samsung, Huawei, ASUS, etc in the world of globally available foldable smartphones. Previously, Samsung did launch a foldable variant of the Mi Mix, called the Mi Mix Fold, but that was China only. The previous smartphone, the Mi Mix Fold, according to Indian Vice President Of Xiaomi, Manu Kumar, Xiaomi was supposed to release globally, but it was not due to some unknown complications, so that might mean that the new foldable one has a good chance of launching globally (Not Confirmed).

According to the leaks, this smartphone will come with an inward folding design, the same design the original Mi Mix Fold came with. However, it will only use Snapdragon’s 888 Chip and not the 888+, because it most likely launch before Snapdragon releases their next chip.

Some other sources state that this phone might feature an in display selfie camera. The Mi Mix Fold has a main display that is 90 Hz and the secondary one is 60 Hz. On this one, the main screen might have a 120 Hz while the secondary will supposedly arrive with a 90 Hz screen.

This will most likely be a tablet sized foldable instead of a clamshell one (One that’s like a flip phone), but we cannot say much since it is not confirmed and Xiaomi has not officially teased this yet.

Moving to the cameras, the only leak we managed to find was that it will feature a 108 Megapixel Sensor. Samsung will most likely be making the main display on this one while VisionOx will make the secondary one. As for the battery, it will reportedly have a 5000 Milliamp Hour Capacity. Over the Mi Mix Fold, this new one might bring an improved and more well rounded hinge.

According to reports from other sites, the internals of this phone are still being tested by Xiaomi. We also might see something new called protective under screen technology, but as of now not much is known about that.

To summarize what we know:

  1. Possible in display selfie camera
  2. Snapdragon 888 SOC (Most Likely)
  3. 108mp Main Camera
  4. 5000 MAH Battery
  5. 120 HZ Main and 90 HZ Secondary Display
  6. Inward folding, toughened, better hinge with protective under screen technology
  7. Possible Global Launch

To conclude, there are still many missing details of this phone, like the configuration of the rest of the cameras, the exact camera sensor, water resistance and wireless charging details, memory options and MIUI version and most importantly, the pricing. The original Mi Mix Fold was launched for 1550$, or 1,15,000 Rupees for the base variant (when roughly converted from Chinese Currency). This one also might launch at the same price globally, give or take around 100 dollars, but this a really gray area and not much is known yet, so it is too early to say anything about it.

What still remains to be seen though is if Xiaomi will let this phone launch globally, or restrict it to China. It is very beneficial to them if they launch globally, because Xiaomi might make considerable profits if they take the global smartphone market more seriously, taking on Samsung, ASUS, Huawei and other brands.
