It was a very exciting day today. At the event, Xiaomi introduced the Midrange Mi 11 Lite and also the Mi Watch Revolve. We will cover the Mi Watch Revolve in another post. This one is dedicated to the Mi 11 Lite.
As of now, they are only launching only a 4G Variant of this smartphone with the Snapdragon 732G. The 5G Variant of this phone has the Snapdragon 870. The CEO of Xiaomi India said that if there is good demand for the Mi 11 Lite 4G, they will definitely bring a 5G Variant of this phone to India.
I will jump straight to the price of this phone, because a lot of us already know the specifications of this.
Xiaomi India has decided to price this at 21,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB Storage Model, and another variant for 23,999. But this has the same 128GB Of Storage but has 8GB RAM. This is pointless. They could have given a 256GB Variant instead of adding 2GB More RAM which not many users will notice a difference in regular usage.
On Mi.com and Flipkart, this phone will go on sale for pre orders on 25th June, and on 28th June there will be a sale.
If you pre order it, there is an early bird discount of 1500 rupees. There is some additional discount for customers with a HDFC Card.
Moving to the specifications, they are very interesting. The phone has a flat flexible OLED Display and a redesigned circuit board that is comparatively 35% Smaller. By tweaking manufacturing process, they were able to make a very thin and light smartphone, possibly the thinnest one in this price segment in 2021. It is only 157g in weight.
It runs on Android 11 (MIUI 12) Out of the box. It is 100 percent ad-free. With a 6.55 Inch Full HD+ (1920*1080) AMOLED 90Hz 10-bit panel, this can be called one of the best, if not the best, displays in this price segment, no competition. It also comes with Gorilla Glass 5 Protection.
Talking about the camera, it has a 64 MP Main Camera (A Samsung Sensor), which was compared in the live event with the camera of the OnePlus 9R, and apparently it is a much better camera than the one on the 9R, but we will hold off judgement until further testing is done.
It has an 8mp Ultrawide Camera, an LED Flash for low light and a 5 MP Tele Macro Lens.
It supports video recording up to 4K at 30FPS.
It also has a 16 MP Front Camera. I am happy they did not include those 2 Megapixel Rubbish Macro and Depth Cameras. This is a proper triple camera setup.
It also comes with dual speakers (stereo) that have high res audio support. It is IP53 certified against water and dust, which is rare in this price segment. The 4250 MAH Battery they put should easily last anyone a full day of use with 10 Bit Mode and 90Hz Turned on.
In the box, you do get a 33W Fast Charger and an adapter to use your wired headphones, since the phone does not have a headphone jack, but it is good to see that they are providing a convertor. The smartphone is launched in three colours: A coral colour (more link pink), black and light blue.
It also has NFC Support and a side mounted fingerprint sensor.
The display has a 240Hz Touch Sampling rate and also HDR10 certification.
To conclude, we think this is a very well rounded smartphone in the mid range segment from Xiaomi and it is a very easy to recommend phone that cuts very few corners in the right places. This is a great device for the price. There was supposed to be a variant with 4GB RAM, but that was not mentioned, so I doubt it will arrive in India. The display is best in class and the cameras are exceptional for the price. We will shortly post another article about the Mi Watch Revolve.
Let us know in the comments if you think the Mi 11 Lite is adequately priced for what it offers.
Thanks a lot for reading!
