For a long time, there were several leaks and rumours about the Mi Pad 5 since the launch of the last generation Xiaomi Tablet, which was the Mi Pad 4, released back in 2018. For like three years, there have been no tablets from Xiaomi, so that leaves Apple & Samsung as the major players in the tablet market. Android tablets from other brands are really not that great.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 might add another strong competitor to the tablet market with the upcoming Mi Pad 5, which is said to launch with dedicated stylus support to maximize productivity and also give this feature to a niche group of users who want it.
This tablet is not budget oriented, but since there will most likely be more than one model of it, we can asssume the Mi Pad 5 will be in the premium midrange and also flagship tablet section.
Whether this tablet will have a keyboard accessory to go with it is currently uncertain, but stylus support right now is imminent.
We have extensively covered the Mi Pad 5 in several previous articles, linked below:

Mi Pad 5, Expected Specifications:
It is also most likely arriving with it’s own dedicated User Interface, built from scratch. MIUI has been designed for these upcoming tablets with the Mi Pad 5 in mind. Other leanks say that it will come with a 10.5 Inch display, and there is a possibilty for a larger sized flagship variant of it. It is said to come with a 20 Megapixel Camera and a dual cell 4000+ MAH Battery.
The second variant might be called the Mi Pad 5 Pro. According to several sources, it will have a 120Hz Display with either the Snapdragon 870 or the Mediatek Dimensity 1200 Chipset. On Weibo, several leaks say that the resolution will be 1080P for the base model and could be 2K for the flagship one but this is not confirmed as of now.
It is currently inconclusive if it will come with a stylus right of the box though. Since MIUI for tablets will be slightly different, it can add tons of productivity features that can be accessed through the stylus, Samsung’s Note Series of smartphones and their S series tablets are a good example of this, because a stylus is an integral part of them. Xiaomi might be looking to do something similar with their Mi Pad 5 Lineup.
If it has keyboard support, the keyboard is said to connect to the device via Pogo Pins. From the below image, we can tell that it has a square like cut for the 20 Megapixel Camera, with four grooves that the rest of the device will lock into. As mentioned before it is unclear if the stylus and keyboard will be bundled with the case or will be separately sold.
The base tablet is expected to come with an LCD 120Hz 1080P screen while the Pro Model might have OLED with a 2K Display or a 144Hz Refresh Rate. A 20MP Main Camera and a 13MP Ultrawide: That’s all we have about the cameras.

Mi Pad 5: Dedicated MIUI
The redesigned OS for Xiaomi tablets is said to have very interesting features like Handheld PC Mode, New Windows-Like Start Menu, Control Center, Multi Window Support, redesigned widet and a whole bunch of other great features to make MIUI expereince on the Mi Pad productive, sophisticated and organized.
The launch date is also not clear. It might launch at the end of July or sometime in August. As for pricing, in India, we don’t even know if it will be launched since we do not know if it will even be globally launched. But according to some reports, the pricing, when roughly converted from Chinese currency, will be 26,000 Rupees for the base model and aroound 40,000 for the flagship one.
Right now, all we can confirm is that it is definitely launching this year and that it will have a redesigned MIUI for tablets and that it will come with keyboard support. It has also been EEC Certified. There will be more than one variant of it.
If the rumoured pricing is true and these leaked specs are true then it is seriously crazy value for money with really great price to performance ratio and excellent value proposition. It might give Samsung a run for it’s money.
