Mi Pad 5 Pro: Recently, there was an alleged certification listing from China, reported by reliable sources. It states that Xiaomi’s MIIT Certification site has detailed some new leaks and specifications about the upper end variant of their tablet which is likely to launch as soon as August.
Another piece of info from this leak says that it might even come with 5G Support, though it is unclear if this is for the global variant (if it is going to launch globally) or only for the Chinese one.
Mi Pad 5 Pro: Alleged Specifications.
Chinese microblogging sites have reported that while the Pro model was arriving with the Snapdragon 870, the regular Mi Pad will not come with a Dimensity 1200, but with a Snapdragon 860 instead. The Snapdragon 860 is no slouch, but it is as powerful as a flagship chip from 2019 The entry level iPad with the A12 Bionic chip completely outperforms this one.
There are new reports saying that besides the Pro model and the standard model, there will be a third variant of this tablet called the Mi Pad 5 Lite, which will be the most affordable variant of this tablet from Xiaomi. This is just a rumor and we have no confirmation regarding this.
Talking about the displays, it is unlikely that all three will come with 120Hz panels. That might be reserved only to the Pro model and there is a chance that the middle variant will get it as well, but the affordable lite variant, we highly doubt it will arrive with a higher refresh than 60Hz.\
The Mi Pad 5 Pro is said to have a 11 inch 2560*1600 (More than 2K in resolution) display, with a 120Hz display and a stylus that is sensitive to different amounts of pressure. It was previously rumored to have keyboard support as well, but as of now we do not know if it will have the keyboard extension and the stylus included in the box.
It is said to have a dual cell battery that will easily last a full day on usage. This tablet lineup will most likely give very good competition to Samsung’s S7, S7 Plus and their new S7 FE.
MIUI will also be completely redesigned to suit tablets and offer users a better experience, with enhancements and productivity features.
For each individual variant, there might be a Wi-Fi Only variant along with a variant that supports 5G or LTE, since some leaks (after analyzing closely the source code of UI) suggested that it will have voice call support via LTE or 5G.
Something still unclear is price, but we predict the lite variant will be around 250$, the normal one 400$, if there is a plus sized model of that, it might be 500$, and the most expensive one will be around 650$, if a global launch happens. We do not know if it will be launched in India, and if it is, prices should be slightly lower than the US Pricing. But based on the leaks, the price to performance ratio seems to be good.
With that being said, let us know what you think about the Mi Pad 5 Series of tablets from Xiaomi. To us, the value proposition seems to be quite good, considering the alleged specifications you are getting. Do you think a global launch will happen? Can it at least hold up against Apple’s iPad Air? Do drop a comment down below.
