There is a rumour going around that Xiaomi will have a huge live event in August. It is unclear whether this is global or China only, but strong rumour holds that the new Mi Pad 5 series will be announced in this live event.

There are more reports that the tablet will have three variants. The base Mi Pad 5, a Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G and Mi Pad 5 Pro Plus 5G.

According to some early reports, the chipset on the top end flagship variant was supposed to be the Snapdragon 888. Then there were more reports that all the variants would come with the Snapdragon 870. Then some other sites reported a Dimensity 1200 SOC on one of the models. Now, they say the three variants will differ in chipsets and that the base model will come with the Snapdragon 768G, the middle one with the 860 and the top end one with the Snapdragon 870.

Though there is zero concrete evidence and all these leaks are baseless, whatever chip they use it will definitely be 5G enabled, making it the first 5G Enabled Xiaomi Tablet.

There is another report that it will have in cell active pen technology, so we might see some stylus productivity features on these tablets, compared to the iPad and the Apple Pencil.

Visually, it is to come out with slim bezels and a sleek modern look with a slightly thick bezel to accomodate the front camera.

Earlier, there were more reports that device got the EEC Certification. According to further reports, there is a lot of work happening to make a deeply customized separate UI for tablets alone, or MIUI for their tablets in particular. So, the initial rumours that say it might get stylus support and also its own custom UI seem to be true.

We covered more info and leaks about this tablet in these articles here:

The top end model is said to support 120Hz and a 1440P (2K) OLED Display. According to other reports it will have a dual 4260 MAH Dual Cell Battery, totalling at 8720 MAH. Mi Pad 5 might have handheld PC Mode, Dual Drag and drop, several other multitasking features, parallel windows, conference features, etc.

Other rumours point to an LCD display on the normal model, a 1080P 120Hz AMOLED on the Pro and possibly a 1440P on the Pro Plus, but it is very likely that at least two of them will most likely arrive with AMOLED Screens. And we should expect them to be practically priced because they will be competing with the Tab S7&s&+, S7FE, iPad 2020, etc.

With that being said, let us know what you think about these new leaks, and how much do you think is good pricing for this tablet. Do you think it will launch in India? We think Xiaomi might create a ripple in the tablet market if they return to it because there are very few companies that manufacture tablets right now (Only Samsung and Apple are relevant, Lenovo occasionally does make tablets). We will update in case there is any more news.

Thanks a lot for reading.
