When it was launched back in February, the Poco M3 had a bigger battery, better cameras, more processing power and arguably better design than its predecessor. You also have a dedicated Micro SD Card Slot to expand the storage up to half a terabyte. It ran on the Snapdragon 662 Processor, which is miles ahead of the Exynos 9611 and is almost as powerful as Mediatek’s latest Helio G80 Chip. This means the device offers great performance for the price of under 10,000.

The smartphone had great battery life, nearly two days for normal users and an easy full day of use for gamers and power users.

Poco M3: Should you buy the new variant?

There are two other variants, both with 6GB RAM, and 128 or 64GB Of Internal Storage. They were priced at 10,999 and 11,999 Respectively. But then there was a price hike of 500 Rupees on both models, bumping up the price to 11,499 and 12,499. Now this third variant has been added to the list, with 64GB Storage but 2GB Less RAM than the 11,499 Rupees Variant. There is a constant price difference of 1000 Rupees between the three variants.

But why?

Initially, many people went with the 128GB Model because it was only a thousand Rupees higher and you got double the storage. Now, this makes the middle variant redundant. We recommend buying the model priced at 12,499 with 128GB Storage. If you are looking to save 2000 then you can go for the 10,499 Model. Storage will not be an issue if you have a Micro SD Card.

They come in three variants: Blue, Black and Yellow. It comes with an 18W Fast Charger Out of the Box with a 6000 MAH Battery. It has a triple camera setup, with a 48MP Main and then those rubbish 2MP Depth + 2MP Macro Cameras. They should have gone with an ultrawide instead of those gimmicky obligatory 2 Megapixel cameras. It has an 8MP Selfie Camera and a 1080P LCD Display.

With that being said, the Poco M3 looks fashionable enough. The Snapdragon 662 is decent for the price, the performance is alright. Gaming can be done at 30 Frames on medium graphics. The Battery life is also really great. While the main camera is alright, the other two are useless, and it lacks any form of stabilization so the video quality is shaky and not great.

If you are looking for a smartphone between ten and twelve thousand, this is a pretty considerable smartphone. But should you go for the base variant? If you do not multi task and play games much and you are kind of a light user of your phone, then the base variant is alright. But if you want to game and multi task and take a lot of pictures and videos, the 12,499 variant is what we recommend because it comes with 128GB Storage and 6GB RAM.

In this smartphone 2GB more RAM makes a lot of difference because RAM Management and optimization on this will not be too good. Do drop a comment down below if you think the new base variant is worth buying.
