Redmi K20 Gets MIUI 12.5: Xiaomi launched the Redmi K20 back in 2019. It was definitely not a cheap smartphone. Customers in India mostly buy smartphones under 20,000 Rupees and at the time, over 20,000 was considered upper mid range segment. The Redmi K20 also had a Pro Model launched along with the regular one. The K20 was priced 21,999 and the Pro for 27,999.
Redmi K20: Specifications Recap
The Redmi K20 had stellar specs for the price with a 6.39 Inch 1080P AMOLED Display with Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back. Both the regular and the pro had a pop up 20MP Selfie Camera, and the bezel less, full display enabled a great viewing experience. It had good contrast and the colors looked good on the 400+ PPI AMOLED, thanks to the edge to edge notch less design with no distractions. It also had an Aluminum Frame, so the build is really good for the price. It had a good back design too, and you can tell Xiaomi put a lot of effort into making this a decent and very well rounded smartphone.
The regular K20 ran on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G, which was newly launched at the time. It had a triple rear camera setup, 48MP Main, 13MP Ultrawide and a third 8MP Zoom Camera, a 4000MAH Battery with 18W Fast Charging. It ran on MIUI 10 (Android 9) out of the box and now it has received the MIUI 12.5 Update. Xiaomi made cuts in the right places for this smartphone.
The Redmi K20 Pro had the flagship (At the time) Snapdragon 855 Chipset, better focusing system and stability when compared to the regular. The key difference is the Snapdragon 855 which is much better than the 730G, but it was also 6000 Rupees More.
Now, the stable MIUI 12.5 Update has begun rolling out on a couple of devices. This is however just an initial release and not everyone will get it immediately.
There are several changes that come with MIUI 12.5, like UI Refinements that offer a more polished MIUI experience. You can now delete a few first party apps. Some more system optimizations have been made for a better experience for the end user.
Now that the Redmi K20 has received MIUI 12.5, there are several rumors that say it will get the MIUI 13 update as well, which is supposed to come out later this year. It is supposed to be a 3GB Update.
