Xiaomi started 2022 with a bang by launching its flagship Xiaomi 12 series in its native country, China. This series came with all flagship-grade features like the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display, 120W fast charging, etc. No doubt there will be more launches by the company as 11 months are still left in this year. A recent leak has revealed the codenames and all key details of the company’s forthcoming smartphones. Renowned Leakster Digital Chat Station on Weibo shared a screenshot which showed 12 codenames of unlaunched smartphones that the company has used which are under development.
What this upcoming Xiaomi device could bring?
First 4 codenames in the screenshot are “munch”, “rubens”, “matisse” and “fog”. These codenames are the internal software codenames of Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphones of the Redmi K50 series which are the vanilla Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro, Redmi K50 Pro Plus and Redmi K50 Gaming Edition respectively. The firm has officially confirmed that they will use Mediatek Dimensity 9000 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoCs on each of the devices of the Redmi K50 series. Digital Chat Station further reveals that the other 2 smartphones of the Redmi K50 series will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 and Mediatek Dimensity 8000 SoCs.
The next 2 codenames on the list, “thor” and “loki”, are codenames of Xiaomi’s upcoming premium flagship devices which will be camera-centric smartphones. Digital Chat Station confirmed that both these devices will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. These devices will be equipped with flagship-grade camera sensors targeting camera enthusiasts.
The final 6 codenames of the list, light”, “thunder”, “zizhan”, “zijin”, “taoyao” and “opal” are the codenames of Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable smartphones, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 and Flip and Xiaomi’s upcoming mid-range smartphones, Redmi Note 12 series. Digital Chat Station further revealed that these foldable smartphones will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and the Redmi Note 12 series will be equipped with the unreleased Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.
The company has already declared that it will be conducting the launch event of the Redmi K50 series in February. According to the teaser poster released by the company, one of the handsets in this series will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC with Dual Vapour-Cooling technology, 4700mAh battery and a whopping 120W fast charging.
