The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 was launched back in 2018. No tablets from Xiaomi were launched after that. Recently, new rumours of a MiPad 5 have started surfacing, which marks Xiaomi’s
return to tablets after a three year break.

As of now, the launch of a new tablet from Xiaomi is practically confirmed, because a Chinese microblogging site reports that the upcoming Xiaomi tablets got a radio certification, an EEC Certification to be precise. From previous leaks, we also know that it will have two variants: A Base Model and a Flagship Model. We can expect a regular size and a plus size model as well.
Since it has already got a radio certification, we can also expect it to come with either Qualcomm or Mediatek’s 5G Processors, making it 5G Enabled. As for the exact processor,
there were two rumours. Earlier, it was said that we’ll get the Snapdragon 888 or 870 on the Pro variant and a Mediatek Dimensity 1200 on the base model. Now, some reports suggest that all the variants will come with the Snapdragon 870 chip, which is basically an over-clocked and improved, more efficient 865+.
More rumours from several blogging sites report a new OS for Xiaomi Tablets to improve the UI. This also might be the year Xiaomi brings Stylus and Keyboard support to their tablets. As for the cameras, there were not too many leaks, but a 20mp main camera and a 13mp
ultra-wide are predicted. Front camera status is unknown at the moment
Talking about display, the base models are rumoured to come with a 120Hz LCD Panel, with either 1080p or 1440p resolution. The flagship model is reportedly arriving with an OLED
120Hz 1440p Panel, which is really great for content consumption. A rumoured 4260mAH Dual Cell Battery (Totally adding up to 8720mAH) will easily last a day for most users.
According to some more Chinese sites, the tablet will cost 3000 Yuan, which when roughly converted gives a price tag of 470$. That is a really good price for those displays and that excellent processor. Most Xiaomi products are very aggressively priced and have a great price to performance ratio, so we predict a price between 470 and 530$ for the base variant.
In India, that roughly converts to 35,000 Rupees which is a great price for those specs. Ultimately it looks like a very competitive tablet, rivalling the Galaxy Tab S7+ as well. It is said to launch some time in July (in China) and globally it might launch a month after that.
