This year, we will see five more major releases from Xiaomi: The Xiaomi Flagship with an in display front camera, the Flagship Xiaomi Foldable phone, Mi Note 11, Mi 11T and the Mi 11 Lite. Next year, we will Xiaomi’s Flagship Device, the Xiaomi Mi 12, with a Snapdragon 895. We will obviously three variants: A Mi 12 Lite, A Mi 12 and a Mi 12 Ultra, just like this year.
However, are there any reliable leaks except that it would have a Snapdragon 895? Yes. Xiaomi tweeted about their 200W Fast Charging along with 120W Wireless Charging. This apparently charges the phone (with a 4000 MAH Battery) to one hundred percent in eight minutes only. WIth the wireless charger, you can charge it in 15 minutes. This is very very fast.
Xiaomi did do something about the battery health impacts of fast charging, which we covered in these articles here:
We will most likely see this in the Mi 12 lineup. These charging speeds are so fast you don’t even have to wait for long before the phone recharges anymore.
We can expect the Mi 12 to have the same price tag as the OnePlus 9 or the Galaxy S21 (Base Model).
Now for the exciting part, we might see an in display selfie camera. If this year, they do launch a flagship with an in display front camera, and it is successful, then there is no reason why it would not be included in the Mi 12. About MIUI improvements, not much is known except that it will ship with Android 12.
Some other sources cite improved software based photography modes and better colours processing, better efficiency and battery life, and an improved in display fingerprint scanner. Keep in mind that these are current rumours and it is way too early to say anything.
Mi 12 might beat the S21 and also OnePlus at an in display front camera, eliminating that punch hole, giving an immersive, bezel free full display experience. In overall design, it looks identical to the Mi 11 except for that in display camera.
The site GizChina reports that the Mi 12 will have a very high quality and high resolution 2K (1440 P) display with an LTPO AMOLED Screen and an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate that changes depending on the need, saving a lot of battery life.
Other rumours that have no confirmation are a self developed retractable lens, IP68 Water Resistance, Stereo Speakers, Infrared, IR Blaster and a multi function NFC.
Cortex X9 Architecture Based 5nm Snapdragon 895 with Adreno 730 will take raw processing power and graphical capabilities to a whole other level. It might have a 5000 MAH Battery, but that is also not confirmed. Three state liquid cooling technology will keep the phone running cooler, resulting in better battery health.
There was another rumour that it will come with a dual punch hole style selfie camera, with a main and an ultra-wide but the source is not very reliable and that would just spoil the entire look of the front. These two rumours are very contradicting. Personally, we think they will either go with an in display front camera or a single punch hole style camera.
Many said that the use of a 200-watt charger damage the batteries. The battery capacity remained above 80% after 800 charge cycles; which exceeds the industry standard, so it is not a huge issue.
The same website, Giz China, also detailed a few camera specifications, but these are baseless, because I could not find any validity or proof to these statements, but for those curious, these are the allegedly leaked specifications: 50 MP Main + 20 MP Ultra wide + 12 MP, 10X Optical zoom, with a 32 MP Front Camera. If they do end up going with a dual selfie camera on the front (very highly unlikely), the secondary one is said to be 8 MP.
A short summary of what we know:
- 4000 to 5000 MAH Battery.
- 200 W Wired Charging and 120W Wireless Charging.
- In Display Front Camera (32 MP)
- 50MP + 20MP + 12 MP (10X Zoom)
- 1440p (2K) LTPO AMOLED 120HZ Adaptive Panel
- Snapdragon 895 & Adreno 730
- Android 12
- Three Layer Cooling System
- Around Same Pricing as Mi 11 Lineup
- Stereo Speakers and IP68 Water Resistance
Before we conclude, I would like to say that Xiaomi made a China Only Variant of the Mi 11, called the Mi 11 Pro, so a Mi 12 Pro might or might not be launched globally.
With that being said, I know it has been a really long article, but since it was a detailed leaks article, we had to make it longer than usual. Be ready for the Xiaomi event on 22nd, there should be many exciting launches, we will make sure to cover all of them.
Thank you for reading.
